What to expect
At St. Stephen's we intend to make it easy and enjoyable for you to come to church. Encouraging teaching, excellent music and a warm welcome are just part of what you’ll experience when you visit.
Teaching is Bible-based and encourages and equips us to know Jesus and to make him known.
Everyone wants to feel welcome, so you’ll be greeted in the foyer, given the notices for that Sunday and an easy-to-follow service sheet. We’ll let you know what is happening throughout the service so you won’t feel lost.
Kids want a program that is suited just for them, so come five minutes early and the welcomers will assist you with finding a youth program that suits your kids during the service. To find out more about the programs offered at St. Stephen's, look at the Kids page.
Music is a universal language, but we know that everyone has their favourites. So that’s why we have a balance between the classic hymns of the past and more contemporary music.
Dress is casual formal; jeans and a t-shirt are fine. At St. Stephen's it’s more important that you are comfortable there than worry about what you wear.
Services are about about an hour and a quarter, followed by moring tea (morning) or supper (evening).
Service Times
There are three services each Sunday (although times may vary during festivals like Christmas and Easter).
8.30am – Traditional Worship and teaching. Aimed at more mature people, it is a quieter service that follows the Prayer Book, includes Holy Communion, traditional hymns and songs. Duration: One hour
10.00am – Family Service. This service is designed for a wide variety of youth, adults and families. Holy Communion is included on the third and fifth Sundays of each month. Music is both traditional and contemporary. Duration: About one and a quarter hours.
7.00pm – Contemporary Worship and teaching aimed at youth and young adults. Frequently performances of drama and music are a feature of this service. Duration: One and a quarter hours.
10:00am - There is also a mid-week service on Wednesday's held in the church foyer, with a short message and a cup of tea to follow.
Morning Tea & Supper
Please stay after the 10am and 7pm services for a brief time to meet people, have a chat and share in a bite to eat and a coffee, tea or cold drink.
